Obesity is a disease that affects nearly 100 million Americans, disproportionately impacting Black and Latinx adults and rural Americans. Obesity tripled the risk of hospitalization from COVID-19 and contributes to major causes of death, including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer. Healthcare providers know obesity is a preventable and treatable disease, but insurance policies and our laws must catch up. The Obesity Care Advocacy Network (OCAN) is leading the fight to modernize policies, letting science lead the way for obesity care. Join us in reducing healthcare inequities and saving lives.
